pullout menu idea

I have advance steel setup on my workstation using two monitors, and i use it with AdvanceSteel on the left and i park additional menus on the right hand screen which is really useful, however i think it could be improved. As you can see from the screencast the menus aren't too clear when on top of a (white) excel or word document. i think it would be good if these menus could be 'docked' onto a separate page which could have a darker background and this background page could be minimised or maximised like any other page (instead of having to minimise each menu individually).

Thanks

Hi bullit2312,

I have a similar set-up, it is handy with one screen showing the file folders etc, and the other - Advance.

New office 2016 has dark gray option, it is nice and less strain on the eyes-in Outlook, Excel, Word,

But the the background in the windows is always white, except if windows has a high contrast theme, which I personally do not use.

This is probably windows team issue-I saw many other users are asking for custom colors in order to reduce the eye strain.

If it is made of steel, I can model it and detail it.

Hi,

If you click on the gear wheel in the title bar of any Advance Steel palette you get the palette properties. These properties are common to all AS palettes. You can change the background colour and opacity of the palette objects so you do not see the Excel or other programs behind them.

If you click the drawing pin on the title bar of a palette it changes to Auto Hide so the palette shrinks to just the title bar when the cursor is not over it. To expand it just move the cursor over the title bar and it reappears. No clicking each in turn. Clicking the pin again switches back to normal mode.

I guess we were talking about different things,

The background in the Windows windows would be better if it is darker, not white, but this is Windows issue.

Advance steel tool palettes are customisable.

The only thing I would change there is an option for item height to start from size 20, not 40.

Hi,

as mentioned by others there are options in the Advance Steel tool palettes to customize the background color, so that the palettes are visible on different other backgrounds.

best regards

Udo
