Prototype Logo Update not Working Now

Hi, I am having some trouble with my prototypes.

Previously I edited all of the standard prototypes to show our company logo and these reside in \ProgramData\Autodesk\Advance Steel 2018\GBR\Shared\Support\Prototypes

If I click on any of these prototypes it opens in AS and everything is as I would expect i.e. our company logo shows.

If however, I go through the drawing process when I open Document Manager and view the drawing, our address is visible however, our company logo is not. If I then use the Open Drawing command in the Document Manager, the drawing opens in CAD and I am presented with the External Reference palette advising that the Logo is NOT FOUND.

I had previously moved the Logo into a different folder but since this started I have put it back where it was. I can and have updated the Logo's path and saved the file however, what do I need to do so as not to have to update the path of every drawing or how do I get the document manager to display the logo when new drawings are created?

We have similar issue, hope you find answer. We have used a pdf image of our logo ever since we learned how to customize prototype. Then a couple months ago it all went messed up..... we even created a .dwg of our logo and we still get the reference popup box telling us it doesn't exist...but you can see it in the prototype....

The "logo" file is a dwg file with a blue rectangle around it, if you take a copy of the original one , place in other location and then change the content inside the file. Save it with the same name "logo".

Go to the prototype folder and open the uk prototype in question, This has several blocks within it, the hypersteelpageheader has the logo block embedded inside it.

On the ribbon is the command to insert a block, think it's under tools, select the insert block command, then more options, under there browse to the new logo file, select it and it will then come up with do you wish to redefine , go yes and the logo block will change in the drawing without you needing to do anything else.

Then escape the command , there is no need to place the block in the drawing.

Repeat for each prototype file.

If you get message block cannot be redefined, this is possible because in the logo file the block is there in the background, so you need to purge block in the logo file, close save and try again.

We use this method all the time to swap out and redefine key block types. This is just autocad.

Hi,

It sounds like you have referenced the logo in your file. This is causing your problem because the path from the project drawing to the logo is different to the path from the prototype to the logo. DO NOT use References for your logo. Don't use images or PDFs either. Even if it seems to work other people may have trouble printing the files with you logo in them properly. 

For best reliability make a logo out of pure AutoCAD elements and make sure that is in your prototype file (as a block if you like). If you currently have a picture of your logo trace over it with polylines etc and use solid fills to fill areas. Yes it takes a few minutes but you only have to do it once. You can insert the same block in each prototype.

As per John Bennett, in the UK we have embedded a block called logo inside the title block so it is easy to switch out.

I have just went through the process of updating all of my prototypes by doing the following:

Opened UK-ASSEMBLY-A0 > from within Block Editor I traced over the image > Delete original image > Close Block Editor > Save Changes to HYPERSTEELPAGEHEADER > Save and close Prototype.

I then opened each prototype and using Block Editor I pasted the new drawn image and deleted the original BMP and on each occasion I saved changes to HYPERSTEELPAGEHEADER then saved and closed the prototype.

I now find that when in Document Manager the state is shown as Unknown and whenever I select Force Update the update appears to run but as soon as I select a drawing in the left pane to view Advance Steel crashes asking if I want to send a report to Autodesk!

So, it seems I have managed to break it further, any ideas how to fix it?

Okay, it's all good, I appear to have fixed the issue as drawings are now showing as up to date as opposed to Unknown.

I swapped out my prototypes for the originals and was able to force the update with these, I then put my prototypes back in and all's good.

Thanks and all my prototypes now have no images for company logo, the images have been replaced with lines drawn in CAD etc as per Alex instructions, albeit once I had drawn it, it was then just a matter of copy and paste into each prototype.
