Hi.
Can someone help me number my project?
I like to number the columns by profile type, for example all the columns of a same profile I call them C1 and if there is another different profile I call them C2, etc, etc.
also in the beams the number by type of profile. How can I do this in advance steel?
I have managed to number them with the prefixes that I want but if there are several columns of the same profile they are numbered C1, C2, etc. even if they are the same profile.
although for manufacturing if the numbers C1-1, C1-2 or if without beams B1-1, B1-2.
thanks.
Hi,
This is currently not an available option.
Please vote in the following idea, it is for preliminary numbers only, but in general, we need it for MP and SP too.
and Item No.6 from this list:

If it is made of steel, I can model it and detail it.
My understanding is each number should be unique to identify the object.
Why do you need it? Are you trying to sort out BOM by numbering?

BOM - for MP usually MP is on top and SP's after that sorted per piecemarks. Or I did not get the question right?...
For now this is my workaround:
Using model browser, sort the beams and plates per name, and I select the (let's say) havier section, and run the numbering to assign preliminary numbers 1 through x
After that select the next size and run numbering again etc.
It is unnecessary time spent due to a lack of simple functionality.
You can try achieving your company's numbering by assigning a 'commodity number' for each size by selecting members from the model browser.
