How to create custom tread connections

When we drawing stairs in ASD we are having only 21 type of treads .

But as per our customer requirement we need custom treads .Those treads we are not getting in available tread types in ASD.

Please see attached screen shot. Please advise how this kind of treads cad be drawn in ASD.

it looks a little bit like Type 11 if the treads (with a little bit of changing of the settings). But you also use the specialtread by using a solid, but I think this is no wanted. 
In the end it would be the fastet way to create it manually 😃

For that type of stair I would manually create from a couple of PFC members and folded / welded plates. I wouldn't bother using the stair tool as it will create geometry you will need to remove thereby losing your associativity anyway. The stair tool will usually get you some of the way, on other occasions you can get all the way with it but you will always have a bit of fiddling because no 2 stairs are ever alike. 

Easiest way to model this is with a couple of guide lines and create the stringers. If you have a 2D cad file then use that as an overlay. I regularly use PDF files as overlays just got to make sure measured dimensions match their written dimensions. Scale accordingly.

I have done a screencast to show how to do what you want and how little time it takes to generate manually. The longest part of the process is creating the reference lines.

After creating the plates join them using the create folded plates without position adjustment or if they will be welded together just leave as they are.

maybe additional, the tread could be also created by using a polybeam, this is sometimes better, because the change the thickeness a little bit easier and the handling is much better in my opinion.

Hi Sir,

Thanks a lot for your guidance for showing correct path.

But we are still having problems to implement these information in our running project.

As this is a 6 fold stair for a custom tower we can not plot the whole cad layout earlier then the model.

And this is becoming time taking also.

Please find attached snap shot for the model.

Please advise if there is any procedure In ASD to create custom tread and then they can be plotted through the stair tool.

you could see here, how to create custom treads: Knowledge 
if the profile ist created, you could open the databases and could set this profile to be folded in the details style. 

But I'm not sure if this could be realise in the stairs makro.

If that is not the stair profile you are after then you can use the stair tool and remove joint boxes and delete all the stair tread members. Then use any of the methods suggested (Sebastians method is more flexible if you want to change things around).  Create the tread you want and copy. Rotate and add to other stringers.

The automatic tools will get you there most of the time but there are always the occasions when you need to think out of the box and just do that little bit extra.

I just did a 14 story stair last year where I made custom treads. The job required sanitary risers which AS doesn't have as a standard. I had a separate dwg with the tread profiles and they appeared in user treads in the stair macro. The only down side to this was for each rise/run variant I had to design the tread because it was not adjusted by the stair macro like usual way. 

I wish I had the time right now to do a whole write up about it but I don't 😐 If you search this forum for "sanitary risers" you will probably stumble on my discussion about this from the past. 

Good luck, it's do-able and it was easier than layout by hand.

Hi,

The attached model is pretty darn close. I just can;t quite get the treads to go over the right stringer without breaking the macro.

You could always use a Shorten of a negative length (-40 in my case) to extend each tread. See top tread. Then the macro remains in tact.
