Relatively new user here.
I am in a drawing and right click "advance properties" on a view. The dialog box comes up, I select "axes" then check next to "median line color". A gray box appears around the view, and I can not get rid of it by unchecking "median line color". If I try to select and erase it, the entire view is deleted. what is that gray box? How do I get rid of it?

Hello !
gray boxes means you have made modifications in drawing you require an update of the view.
for your example, add anew line in drawing require an update to "generate" this line.
in general, grey boxes are showed to say to us "you made mofication, upadte the view to see them"
