Graphics card for Advance Steel

Hi guys.

 

Can anyone please give me some advice?

 

I need to replace my pc urgently and do not know what the best entry level to mid level graphics card to use,

all the info on the internet is very confusing.

 

It seems that the bottom range card will be the Nvidia Qautro K620/K1200 and mid range the Qautro k2200.

 

What cards do you guys use that do not brake the bank but still do the job? Do some of you use the AMD firepro cards?

 

Any help will be appreciated.

In the UK, we specify the NVIDIA Quadro M2000 graphics card - Quadro M2000 - 4 GB in all our workstations we sell for Advance Steel.

 

Its also worth checking the below link on what Autodesk certify

Advance Steel is not on the list of programs on the link you have send me, will specs for Autocad typically be the same for Advance Steel as well?

Yep, thats what we go with. Its its good for AutoCAD then its good for AS.

One more question regarding graphic cards.

 

What would you define as "Entry level 3D" and "Mid-range 3D"?

hello guys !!!

I have a hp workstation with gpu quadro K4000M, I7 3840 QM, 16G Ram and install Advance Steel 2016 R2. When i test advance steel with example model (attach file), advance steel is lag, delay with zoom and obit. Please help me fix it ???

hi,

i have a Z620 16GB with Nvidea Quadro 5000, it works good with large models.

But in your model it is also slower, i see that you do not have any model views, if you work with that you can hide ans show parts and performance will be a lot faster.

Hi Did a long research on GPU for Advance Steel and somehow am beginning to realize that the cuda cores in the graphic cards make all the difference Your card the quadro K4000m has only 336 cuda cores and the Quadro K5000m had 1536 cuda cores I am using ordinary graphic card Nvidea GTX 750ti(sub 150$ card) which has 512 cuda cores and is fair enough for small models but not enough for large models as one shared on this post. Basically both cards are made by Nvidea except the Quadro range is premium range(well built) and almost 4 times the cost and some tweaking for geometry and rendering. I will be testing the 1060ti card later and update this post if I get good results Best Regards

it can be interresting to see the results of this test, as gtx 1060Ti has 1280 cuda cores.

what wee need is sum sort of repeatable command  to benchmark the difference  between gpu's

as i have the weakest gpu a "GT 610 ,48 cores"

 

but i can pan orbit the twin towers model  

but i get real bad fps

and most of the model disapers as i rotate 

 

i have good card at home a fury x 

the difference  its like over 30 foiled in gpu power

 

iul triy this model at home  tonight  , but last time i tryed  this type of test there was allmost no difrence 

 

so i rekon u wont a nvidea 1050   a £100 card  maybe a 1060  if your boss isent as tite as myn 

i think high cpu clock speed most important thing with autocad

i did notece an good increase in document production when i got an ssd (useing suite)

I am currently working with a Nvidia quadro FX580 (8 years old).

I have no problem turning model in 3D, even heavy ones, especially with conceptual or realistic views.

It only slows down significantly with linear 2D view (no hidden line features) wich is odd as in this mode no hidden lines has to be calculated.

 

I guess it is also driver / GPU processor dependent as the GPU processor can be optimized for 3D rendering or not.

So pure GPU strenght could be not worth if the processor is not otpimized for that.

I guess Autodesk list of recommended GPU has to do with this optimization.

 

So a graphic card as GTX series can probably do wonders for games, but might no be appropiate to vector CAD 3D rendering.

Theorically, Quadro series on the other hands are normally optimized for that kind of work.

 

Still last GTX series 1070/1080 might have enough punch to be a good cheaper substitute to a lot more expansive quadro.

To be tested if someone have that configuration available ...

yer i think AS only use gpu acceleration with shaded  view   

it ses in comand bar after u change view style (Enhanced 3D performance is not available for the current visual style) if u chose  one that  isent shaded

 

i watch sum think from autodesk univercity

A Hardware Wonk's Guide to specifying the best 3d  workstations   think  there a  talk etch year by Matt Stachoni

 

and that dood rekond since autodesk whent from open gl to direct x  , that gaming gpu where best 

one point he made was a pro card cost about 5 foild  gaming so even if u broke it u could by a new one 5 times  

or buy a new card every year and it be same as one pro evry 5year

 

im prity shore autodesk are payed by nvidia to not recommend  gaming cards 

other wise thay would recommend gaming cards for all but really big  models
