Hi @chris_aguilar14 ,

post some example picture here for your weld type ... it refers to user weld or some weld in connection macro?

I will share a few details that are most-commonly used, showing both flanges:

1. Beam to Column, field welded, TC-U4a

2. Shop welded: TC-U4a-GF, the backing bar can stay, it is a prequalified weld, this is just for the latest project with the reinforcement.

3. These are flange to flange:

Hope these will work for you.

Basically, the first thing to consider is available position, thickness, and what is used as equipment if it is field or shop welded.

Look at AWS D1.1 ( or D1.5 if it is a bridge project). If you have HSS on one side, D1.5 does not cover HSS. So AWS D1.1 shall be used instead.

If you can output nc and beveling is done by nc, then use weld requiring beveling.

If you have an option for carbon stick to be used for U-groove, this may be the best option.

Hope this helps.

If it is made of steel, I can model it and detail it.

I just saw the second post, it is B-U4a, (or GF), one side beam flange will have 45 degrees bevel, 1/4" gap, backing bar and 1" radius at ea beam.
