Central object in cut view

Hi everyone,

I've got a problem with the manual cut in AS2018

How can i select the central Object (or point) in my manual cut ?

in AS2017.0 when selecting the manual cut, we select the object on the view who became the central point of this view:

in the command line when they ask for the automatic width i say each time "NO" for better control of my view

as see below:Coupe AS2017_ ADVANCE STYLE.PNG

This was very easy to augment the height of the view with the main object selected as central point of the manual cut.

BUT NOW :

in AS2018

When i make exactly the same DS of assembly 'assemblage 1:5' (from advance category) and the same cut view 'Détail d'intersection AvArr100 1:10 CP' (from advance category)

they ask no more for automatic width and after creating the cut view, there is what i get:Coupe AS2018_ ADVANCE STYLE.PNG

i see my total assembly, but i only want to see the square up with the L profile and make a lot of thing appear for nothing.

So my question: can i make the selected object as central instead of the middle of the view for my manual cut ? as before in AS2017 (just hotfix 1)

This is new 'feature' in 17.1 - Less steps for manual cut view creation

http://help.autodesk.com/view/ADSTPR/2017/ENU/?guid=GUID-3F9F31D7-00F4-4DCE-814C-A88E29808817

I hope the feature returns back to version 2017 in 2018.1.

hi, thanks for your answers Smiley Happy

i know it's from the new "simplified" worflow for drawings (bull**** in my opinion). But the only way i foiund is to delete the undesired object and resize the view after.

but if you say to me there is another way, i'll be enjoyed to see it !

hope Aleck will explain to me, i've tried so many things in the DS manager...

Hi All,

Credit goes to @dave_conibear for working out the main part of this. Nice one Dave! As requested I will try to explain the work around he figured out.

  • Double click the outer green frame around your detail (or seelct the detail, right click and choose Advance Detail Properties).
  • Turn off (untick) "Automatic Clipping"
  • Adjust the values on the "Clip" page to get a view you are happy with (perhaps add to the "How much should be kept either side" value).
  • OK
  • Create your cut view as normal selecting the part of the parent view you are interested in showing.
  • Your cut view will initially show the entire size of the parent view but you can recover this now.
  • Double click the inner green frame around the new view (Advance View Properties).
  • Change the X and Y viewport values a to suit your needs. (One value should be about right but the other value will likely be set to the width of the main member only so you might need to adjust that some more to see everything).
  • OK.

This screencast shows how.

Doing these steps on a complex main part drawing takes disproportionate amount of time, in practice is this solution unusable.

I hope Autodesk will fix it soon.

Hi everyone !

Thanks Alec for the tip, but as say Andrejpa, it is much much time-consuming and very complex vhen we make a cut on GA drawings.

So i will keep using the delete method to work with manual cuts.

But i really really hope for the 2018.1 they will change or modify the method for manual cut (maybe back in 2017.0 method).
