I'm confused. I have AS 2023. The single part CS doesn't seem to match the detailing direction.
Say I a start a brand new drawing, still is world UCS, draw a beam 5' from origin (start, end 1) to the right (finish, end 2) and put a cut on the right hand side. Number it, right click "show single part CS" and it looks exactly like this....
See how the CS X- direction goes to the left and the view direction arrow is on the far side of the beam facing towards me. If I select the beam, detail it (using canned "Selected Sp Each ANSI-B") I get this....
Which is exactly opposite of what the "single part CS" indicates.
I know about the TOOLS "define object detailing direction" and using that seems to sync up the CS and drawing, but why does that first single part CS not match the way it is drawn?
Thanks
Ron

Check these settings in your Drawing Style
Hi,
In the drawing style on the View arrangment page there is a property "Orientation of the Beam End"
That coud be overriding or setting thing to have the start on the left.
There is also a default.

Hi Murry, yes my drawing style settings matched the ones you showed.
I see now how the orientation of beam end = default means use the setting in MT. And that corresponds with how my beams were being drawn.
I had seen this in another thread single-part-cs-and-sp-detail-not-the-same but didn't understand until now.
That's what had me confused. If you right click "show single part CS" on a new beam, that CS and how it is drawn is unrelated.... it will be drawn according to the drawing style. But if you use TOOLS "define object detailing direction", now the CS matches with how it will be drawn and override the drawing style settings.
Thank you for the help
Ron
