Advance Steel 2019 Assembly Drawing Issue

Anonymous
Not applicable

Hey guys,

I'm having a little issue with my assembly drawings the system line on all my drawings stay on the base of the drawings instead of the center of the beam, because of this my assembly drawings are detailing incorrectly. Is there a fix to this? I just started using advance steel and I'm having trouble with this step. I've attached photos as a reference.Assembly Drawing.PNG

Hi,

You should always model with the System line in the significant point WITHIN your beam. I would not use the Y and Z offsets on the positioning tab of Advance Properties. Move the beam instead. The system line is used as the dimensioning datum in Part and Assembly drawings. You control the system line position relative to the beam so you control the datum.

Those positioning adjustment tabs are highly counter-intuitive when it comes to creating documents based off the model. It's a great tool for strictly modeling without intent on creating assembly drawings though!

I'd really prefer an Axis Pinning feature(Sim. to the 2D Axis locking tool.) in place of those positioning tabs though. Quicker access to turning that on/off while playing with your system lines would be sweet.
