Hey guys,
I am numbering single parts at 1000 & assemblies at 100 both 'with drawing number' method. The problem I am getting is an additional number being added to the front of my SP and MP numbers, its doing my head in.
Any help please?
Aaron.

Screen shot might help.

Sorry, as per below. There is an additional 1 added to my SP's and an extra 0 added to my assemblies.

Ok, that helps a little. Those are temporary place keepers due to using
post processing. Because no drawing has been created yet, it can't allocate the drawing number to the temporary place keeper.

Ok, did you see the first two screen shots where I have created drawings for the single parts? For example I had parts numbered M1000 etc then once drawings were created (starting at number 1000) it changed my single part number to M11000.

Sorry, didn't see this screen grab.
You will need to show me the numbering setup dialogue box. It looks to be a %parameter in you numbering string.

Thank you.
Remove the %counter parameter from the string.

It wont allow me for some reason?

In that case remove the %method number and change you Couter settings.
Personally, I go the other way and don't use the post processing but rather have the Part and Assemby number drive the drawing number.

Could you just explain your method a little more? What do you mean when you say post processing?

I just had the same issue removing the method number. Says it is required and I cant select OK button.

What options do you get with the drop down counter box?
I noticed at the top you are not actually using post processing.
It seems your counter setting is driving this.

Did you mean the format as below?
In the counter I just have the number or small / capital letters.

Just a question. Did this happen on initial drawing creation or did you perhaps create the drawings, deleted them at some stage, made some edits and recreated them? Also in the special tab of the numbering, do you have the option on or off for reuse numbers...?

Hi Ignus,
You are correct, I had created some drawings previously, continued modelling in the same model, deleted all drawings and numbering and started again. Have made a mess of it really...
I do have the 'reuse unused numbers' currently ticked.

Ok, this happened to me as well a few times. There's a specific way that you need to deal with changes when working with the "with drawing number method". There was an article on this but the link does not seem to work anymore. This method is good, but I have found it to be to easily to get in that problem that you are in now. Personally I like a different method that still ensures that the drawing number matches the part numbers. Have a look at this link in this forum: https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/advance-steel-forum/preferred-numbering-method/m-p/11612917#M51919 This method is what iwafb described in this chat.

Thanks for the info Ignus, so this is the method you now use all the time?
I think starting from scratch with prototypes, BOM lists etc might be beyond me at the moment.
What are your thoughts on copying my model to a new drawing file and starting the process over again.
Problem I see is that I do need to continue modelling in the same project and still produce drawings as I go, so may end up in the same position..
Would deleting the drawings/numbering and then making the changes as per iwafb suggested be a good solution for me?
