Measure coordinate XYZ in 3D view

Measure coordinate XYZ in 3D view

Introducing a tool to identify coordinates in 3D models would be highly beneficial. For instance, enabling the cursor to pinpoint a location and provide its coordinates, similar to the functionality in Navisworks, would greatly assist in various tasks and verifications that require precise data from the 3D model within the ACC.

Very useful feature for the site activities. Similar to Trimble connect "single point" feature.

What about the command ID? It dose what you are explaing

@filiph_sandbergGWL2QHave you found a way to invoke the “ID” command within ACC?

Ah right.. ACC.. pretty insane that this can't be done.. autocad..

Hello,

This feature would be extremely valuable for site people.

Thanks,

Adding way more measure feature would be nice. Like measure a slope, measure a radius, measure perpendicular to a face...

Hi @postrovsky,

Thanks for the idea. I will bring this to our team who works on the ACC Viewer. Couple of questions. Can you identify the specific tasks you are referencing? (In order to give our team a better understanding of how this will help you.) Second, I currently believe that our viewer automatically orientates models in the manner they are orientated in Revit (Foe instance). A potential problem I foresee is that X and Y directions are still oriented with respect with the default coordinates system, so these values are basically useless in this case (X in horizontal direction and Y vertical). I'm not sure if this would or is a potential problem?

Best,

Lance

Hi @postrovsky!

Great news. This is something our production team is working to implement near. Once its released I would like to touch base and get your thoughts.

@lance.borst The ACC viewer orients models only (!) in accordance with Shared Coordinates, which is a big mistake if you ask me, since all the sectioning tools are not oriented properly if the model's True North differs from Project North. You should be able either to choose if you want to use Survey Point or Internal Origin, or the IFC viewer should just read the origin as it was exported. Trimble has no problems doing this, not sure why ACC can't...

@lance.borst I think @postrovsky is talking about real life geodesic coordinate (x,y,z) like (297348, 5556987, 44). So the model orientation will not affect this kind of "measure".

This is what exactly it should be. Imagine when survey person want to indicate mismatch of installed element about mis alignment to the installation engineer/Manager. With this tool he can easily give compression of coordinates from IFC BIM Model and Site condition of element installation with exact deviation in alignment during installation and save for modification after installation.
