Rendering a black material VRay

Hello, I'm trying to render a black material based upon a reference photo i've taken, but when rendering.. the black material renders more like grey. It does have a slight reflectivity and i'm aware that can reduce the diffuse colour somewhat. Was wondering if theres perhaps something i've missed?

Possibly check exposure settings?

There are many ways to approach this. First thing is playing with the lights intensity and colors, and the exposure of your shot.

Once you have something that looks good, then you can accentuate the contrast or brightness of the image with the V-Ray frame buffer or post effect in Photoshop or something. All product photographers do the same.

Regarding your material, you depending on the type of material you are trying to achieve you may need to put a little more work, now everything looks very flat or simple. using reflections maps to accentuate reflections or glossines can take your material to the next level, also the same for bumpiness or imperfections.
