Arnold Scene Convertor Camera Angle

Hello

I have an issue after linking a Revit File into 3DS max and then running the Scene Convertor.

My problem is the camera angles of all the cameras have shrunk to a very small angle.

Pelase see the before and after picture.

I am following  the procedure from Solid Angle.

https://support.solidangle.com/display/A5AF3DSUG/Converting+a+Revit+Scene+to+MAXtoA

  • Open the Scene Converter window - Rendering -> Scene ConverterThe Scene Converter should default to Convert to ART Compatible Features using the ART.ms preset script. We will use this script as MAXtoA supports the Physical cameras and shaders provided by this script.
  • Select Convert Scene. The script will convert the Autodesk Materials into Physical shaders. the Daylight/Exposure into a Sun Positioner and Physical Sky, and the cameras into Physical Cameras. The Max Photometric lights are now supported in Arnold and so will not need to be changed.

This issue appears on all my Revit files.

I have set my system units setup to feet in 3DS Max.  1UNIT= 1FEET

The units are also in feet in my Revit file.

This also happens to the Revit sample project.

Thank you for your help.

Hello

Can someone shed some light on this subject or try a test science from revit to max.

I started a new revit scene with only 4 walls and a desk and the camera angle still was less than 1 after linking into max and then running the scene converter.

The angle came over into max correct before running the scene converter.

I have updated all softwares but still having the angle issues after linking.

Thanks.

There is a strange problem that's is not fixed when you Link REVIT files into 3D Max related to scale.

REVIT by default units are Feets, 3D Max default units are Inches, if you Link an FBX REVIT file into 3d Max it will link with the wrong scale.

one work around is to Import the FBX into max but on the dialog of FBX importing, you should select Centimeters. Then everything should import correctly.

If you like to keep it rather linked. Just erase the geometry and link the FBX after the units are changed.  Strange I know but otherwise you need to do the direct export from REVIT to 3D Max.

Hello Francisco.

I tried switching to centimeters before the import but I still get the same results.

The initial linking of a rvt or fbx comes over fine its after using the scene converter that the issues pop up.

I think the script was not designed for feet units and converts them someplace in the conversion.

We need the Arnold team to address this issue please.

Thanks
