Hi all,
I have started from scratch with 3Ds Max 2024 few days ago, and I am trying to render a simple animation with 120frames.
When render the scene with Arnold rendering engine, I see that each frame is rendered 12 times (it is shown as 12 passes in the Rendering Progress window). But in the rendering window, I don't see any improvement on render quality after each pass, and it seems that the rendering time is much longer than necessary.
I can't find any rendering parameter that is related to this number of passes.
Can anyone help me with this?
Thank you and best regards,

Production Rendering Mode?
MAXtoA doesn't do 12 passes. It does, at most, five (-3 AA, -2, -1, 1, and final AA). And that's really for IPR purposes.
If you're rendering final frames, you should disable Preview AA (Render Setup > Arnold Renderer > Sampling and Ray Depth).
Thank you for your reply.
Yes, I am using Production Rendering Mode with Arnold Renderer.
I have been changing the "Sampling and Ray Depth" parameters in several configurations (including the presets that you mentioned) and the number of passes is always 12, and each pass seems to start the render again (as I see in the renderer window).
Maybe I accidentally modified any configuration parameter somewhere, because the 12 passes (see screenshot) are applied with all the renderers...
Hello again,
I have found the origin of the problem. I realised that the 12 passes were performed only if I rendered a camera view, and not if I rendered a perspective view. So I checked the camera configuration and I found that I had enabled the "Multi-Pass Effect" (I dont't know this function). Only one pass is performed after unchecking this box.
Kind regards
I
