Attach / detach geometry with explicit normal modifier

Hello!

I'm working on a modifier that holds explicit normal information for the object it belongs to. This modifier in fact is a slightly modified copy of the 'edit normal' modifier that comes along with the SDK. My problem is that the normals are lost if I attach the object to another. Same for the original 'edit normal' modifier when normals were made explicit, btw.

Does anyone know how to handle attaching of objects correctly on the modifier side?
