From 2016 on, max uses new Physical camera based on code from Vlado (Vray dev), it's in the Standard category, not Vray:

If you want the traditional VRay Physical camera instead (basically deprecated and not available from the UI), enter vrayCreateVRayPhysicalCamera() in the MAXScript Listener and press Enter, it will create one.

What vray version? Works in vray 3.40.01 @ max 2017:

vraycam.gif

What's the reason you want to use that one instead of the Physical cam? It was made based on vray camera source code anyway.

So you're on a newer version 3.40.02 or 3.40.03, right? The old Vray Physical Camera is there only for backwards compatibility when opening old scenes that use it, it's not creatable and this was a workaround method, most probably dropped now. As I said, you should use the max Physical camera instead.

Yes, it's now renderer agnostic (it's a part of the continuing effort to make max easier to use with 3rd party renderers) and matches the original VRayPhysicalCamera functionality. Note that when you create a Physical camera, a new Exposure Control is created and active (press 8 to bring up the Environment and Effects dialog, it's under Exposure Control) which effectively overrides the exposure settings of the camera itself - just something to be aware of.

hi, it was so useful the solution. Thanks. i have a question through this though, i have a problem with the lights now, i mean i set them but in render they doesn't have any effect. so i was wondering if the problem is that i'm using physical camera, and Vray ilghts. could it be ? because i'm doing exterior renders and i have Vraysun, Vray light Dome, but they don't have effect.
