Texture problem

I created a model in AutoCAD and then loaded it into the 3dsmax, so the model is still linked.
The layers were also taken over in 3dmax. The problem is that if I want to assign a texture,
other parts get this texture as well. These do not have the same layer. I then tried to correct
it with the command "Edit mesh". But that did not help either.
Did someone already have this problem?

They share the same material.

You need to give individual parts different materials.

eighter detach a part with editable poly and give it a different material, or make a Multi-Sub Object material and use material ID's.

Many thanks for your response. I could finally solve the problem. I do not know exactly where the
problem is. I suspect it is due to the link with the AutoCAD.
