Particles to mesh using Mesher Compound object

Hi.

I have an animation of sprayed concrete on a wall (using PF Source).  I wanted to turn the first pass into a solid (mesh or poly) so that I then have only one particle system for the second pass (to ease rendering).

I have used the Mesher Compound object to turn particles from a PF Source into an Editable poly.  When I render, the poly object only seems to have picked up a certain amount of the particles (see attached).  The LHS of the image shows the particles and the RHS shows the Editable poly of the particles.

I expected to see "like for like" but it looks like the conversion loses part of the PF Source particles.

Can this be achieved or are there limitations with this process?

Thanks,

T
