Import .STEP file as Body Object: how to edit?

I have imported a .STEP file as a Body Object (solid).

How do you edit it?

I can't seem to move any faces or edges or anything.

Is the only way to convert it to a mesh model?

I'd like to keep it a clean solid if at all possible.

3ds Max and similar software were never designed to work with Body data. There are limited functions that you can perform and they are more geared towards cleanup rather than modification in the traditional sense. The only way to get full modification tools would be to convert to mesh or modify in the software that originally created the .STEP file (i.e. Inventor, Fusion)
