Collapsing Modifier Stack Ruining UVs?

I'm getting some weird UV behavior with a scene. This specific scene from a client has, on the modifier stack of the main object, an Unwrap UVW > OpenSubDiv > Unwrap UVW.

 

When I check the UV Editor of the upmost Unwrap UVW modifier, there are no overlapping faces. Then, I collapse the stack. I decided to recheck the UVs, so I added a new Unwrap UVW modifier. However, there are some minor differences now, and a few faces are overlapped. I tried different things, like adding a Turn to Poly or Edit Poly modifiers before collapsing everything, but they all resulted in the same issue.

 

Am I missing something here? I expect the UVs to be the same after I collapse the stack, whether or not I add a new Unwrap UVW modifier on top. I'm on Max 2023 but the scene seems to be fairly old, not sure if that matters.
