Turn 2 lines into surface

Hi guys,

I am a bit of a beginner when it comes to modelling however I have a complex object i want to create, I have managed to create the outlines with two basic lines now i just want to fill them in.

Both lines are attached to each other however the only method i know is to covert to mesh with only does the top bit (as you will see in the pictures) whereas i want the middle filled in

OK, basically, I'm a beginner, and I've been facing problems with the same command.
To turn any object to surface, you have to have 3 or 4 sides which means, a pentagon, hexagon etc,,, will not be transferred into surface, unless you divide them into a 3 or 4 sides polygons.
I prefer drawing on Auto-cad and transferring every closed area of 3 or 4 sides into boundary, or you can draw in MAX with spline, but you have to make a closed areas of 3 or 4 sides, and by sides I mean lines..
Hope I could help

When you do straight conversion to mesh from splines, there are some rules that you will need to follow. Your spline object looks like a single spline object, but it has strange overlaps onto its own segments. If you have two distinct shapes such as figure 8, then the spline must not be a single shape overlapping onto its own segments. You should separate them into two shapes to make mesh surfaces facing in the same direction. The overlapping areas of the splines will result in phantom vertices with no polygons.

Hi. Your splines are to complex for Max to figure out what to "fill" and what not, so you need to prepare your object. Personally I would break it up into 3 or 4 closed splines and then weld them together after making them to mesh. This could for example be the arms as 2 closed splines and the bodies as to closed splines.

Hope it helps
