Run into a problem with "Path deform Binding" and UV Mapping

Hey everyone, I need your help with my house model! I want to unwrap UV of my model which consists of a basic mesh and lines combined with cylinders to get detail to the walls. The cylinders have "path deform binding" as modifier. The problem is, that I can't attach the cylinders without loosing the path deform binding. So the cylinders change back to default positions. Is it possible to attach them to the model without loosing the modifier? Or is it possible to unwrap the uv map for a "group" of lines+cylinders and a basic mesh? I want to have one single UV map for the model, do I now have to change the way I form the cylinders? model them manually? What would be your kind of workflow in this case? thanks for your possible answers, and good night. (its 4am for me, 3ds max keeps me awake^^)

Hi. You can't attach objects with a path deform modifier without loosing the modifier, but you can do it without loosing the deformation, if you collapse them before attaching them.

The way to collapse an object with a world space modifier is to right click on the top of the modifier stack and then select "Collapse to" (instead of Collapse all).

Hope it helps

Thanks alot for quick help, I can move on now 🙂 I found another solution which would be a "screenshot" of the cylinder. Can you tell me, how I would do this to solve my problem? Just to expand my knowledge 😛

Hi. Glad it helped 🙂

"Collapse" simply collapses the stack into a editable mesh/poly (depending of the original). You could say that everything in the stack is "baked" into the mesh (including UVW).

"Snapshot" (not screenshot) basically makes a collapsed copy of the object.

Hope it helps
