How to Clip/Crop (read: delete) everything except selection?

I have a very large building being imported into max, and I'm only concerned w/ one area. Is there a way to draw a box that envelopes my required area and have 3ds clip/crop/delete everything else?

Thanks!

Is the object an Editable Polygon object?  If so, just select the subobject elements you're working on (polys, edges, verts), and use the "Hide Unselected" option in the Editable Polygon object properties, under the Edit Geometry rollout,  to hide the rest.  Or, vice-versa.  You can also select an object, and Isolate Selection, withe the quad menu options, to work only on that object in a special isolation mode.  Even in Isolation Mode, you can still hide selected or unselected polygons or subobjects, to further clip your work to only a certain area of interest.

If it's an Editable Poly (or Mesh) select the Vertices, Edges or Polys you want to keep, press Ctrl+I (Invert Selection) then press Del to Delete.

Don't worry about it - I just gave a Max answer to a MayaLT question... happens to the best of us 😉
