Unlock Viewport Whilst Mirroring

Currently, we're unable to rotate the viewport and orbit around an object that is in the process of being mirrored. Once the dialog box for the mirroring options is open the viewport locks which can be quite frustrating when trying to gauge the offset of the mirrored object. 

 
I think it would be really useful if you could unlock the viewport to solve this issue, what is the current reason why the viewport becomes locked during this process?

Modal dialogs are of the devil's making...

I wonder if this is the default behaviour of other Dialog windows ?
