Move pivot point

Move pivot point

I would love a setting that will move the pivot point to a specific point. Such as move pivot to base, Move pivot to top, Move pivot to left edge etc...

Can't you already do this with the align tool?

Turn on Affect Pivot Only. Use align and select the object's geometry.

Choose Pivot point on the current object side of dialog and go to town.

See Neil Blevins pivot placer tool for a nicer interface to do the same thing.

You can also use the Working Pivot, without changing the actual object's pivot.

But a second pivot, that can be keyframed in animation, would be a game changer...

As noted, already easy enough with the align tool?

I think so.

What I'd like is to be able to keyframe changes of the pivot. I remember having so many problems to animate a rolling cube... With an animable pivot, this would have been so easy...

@RGhost77: WOW! this one seems perfect! Thanks for the tip!

We should implement something similar directly in Max.

And what if you only have some edges selected? It will automatically put the pivot point to the center of all the selected edges, right?
