I take a very specific example which is the render to texture, which allows you to Rebaker a texture of a mesh. Recap on the same action tiles all the available procs well and performs the desired operation in a few seconds.... So, why don't you let 3dsmax take the resources (even if it means asking for it via a dialog box in which you propose to allocate the number of procs you want) necessary to finalize the action without it taking hours and only one proc out of 12 works... while Recap uses all 12.
