Hello to the development team, This is my idea: Sometimes people doesn't need the whole features stablished in the product (3ds max 2018 in this case), so you should make a better managed modular installer (and you will say, but theres actually a "modular installer") and it's true but for me as an user.. I can't choose which specific features of the products i will use / need or want. Why people needs something like this? because some people have low end computer or a limited computer with the minimum system requeriments.. and want to buy your 2018 version software. this will help to indies developers/artists/fans that want to create low poly stuff or models but without needing to install a software with arroun 10+gb. For example not everyone needs the arnold render, its a plus but not necesary sometimes and its big (talking about size and system requeriments) another example could be.. people doesnt needs features like animation system, so in the installer you should be able to choose what do you need. I think that you will gain more users implementing this idea. Regards, Anon user.

My colleagues an I often need to share large architectural scenes between offices. This involves collecting the Max file, bitmaps, Vray proxy files and IES light definitions. Right now if the Archive function fails (this often occurs) it only provides a cryptic message such as:.... File Save Error File Archive Failed (code1) My research tells me this could be due to one of the files having an overly long name. Could you please A: fix the Archive so it can handle modern naming conventions, or B: get it to at least provide useful information as to why it is failing, so these problems can be addressed. I've been using a script called MB Resource Collector by Martin Breidt, to gather resources that includes third party render assets (Vray Proxies). It works fine on a scene that Archive fails on. Additionally most people in my field find that the Relink Bitmaps script by Colin Senner is an essential tool needed for daily work. I think these types of tools should be a standard part of Max. In other words - the existing Resource Collector and Archive functions need updating.

Please allow us chose font size in Render Message Window. And fix words spacing, because now statistic from Arnold totally messed and hardly readable (check screenshot).

It currently takes 8 - 10 mouse clicks to generate a UV map bitmap (for save) in the UVW Unwrap modifier. Is there any chance you could put a button on the UI to just generate and bring up a file dialogue box to save, or even have the settings in the options to just generate it to a pre-assigned file so you don't have to make several clicks prior? Thanks

Hello! Would be cool if 3ds Max had a much more 'granular' context sensitive help function. Hover the cursor over anything (parameter/modifier/panel/button/whatever...) in the UI, press F1, and the according help page pops up, down to the very line where the item is explained! Cinema4D's help works like this, and it's priceless. Best I've seen so far. It isn't necessary to set focus (by LMB-clicking) on anything. Just hover the cursor, press F1. Thanks a lot!

Not sure if this is something i overlooked in max since i started using it years ago but i often wished for something like this. Basically it would behave like a volume select which would look through a list of given object and would switch their attribute properties as it gets within a certain radius. -- per example i have 100 lights in the scene i need to animate on sequentially, i would just create a gizmo, input the lights list and say turn light on when the gizmo is within a given radius of the light, then just animate the gizmo going over the lights i want on. what would be even better would be to control stack elements individually or even be able to trigger animation sequences based on proximity. i know it is all doable with tp per example but if it was built-in max it would make the animation process a lot faster... at least for me.

I migrated from Truespace to Max recently and am surprised that this feature is missing. If a pivot point is moved from the centre of an object to, say, one edge, the scale and rotate functions move with it. However, the dimensioning doesn't so you have to use scaling to increase a dimension away from the pivot rather than from the centre of the object. It is simpler to illustrate it with a diagram: I have only indicated it acting on one axis but it would naturally work the same for all axes. At the moment I have to create a 100mm cube to start so that I can use the scale factor as if it was a dimension in millimetres but it is an inelegant way to work. Scaling should only really be a last resort as it has implications for mapping. The 'reset xform' was presumably introduced to address this problem but only treats the symptom and not the cause. If someone knows a way to do this in Max as it exists now, I would love to hear.

Hi i'm not sure if qualifies as an idea or somesort of a bug-glitch, or its just my luck of knowledge. When in sub-object mode the gizmo doesn't follow the mouse movement but jumps to the location when you let the left mouse button go. But when moving whole objects the gizmo does follow. If its not a bug my suggestion is to add an option that would allow the gizmo to follow subject (lines, vertices, polygons) just like it does when you move whole objects If it is a bug I think you guess you guess noticed it before, and its probably just so deeply rooted so you cann't easily fix it or maybe its was design that way for some other reason that i don't about (sorry about that then) Here is a thread with video examples, if explanation isn't clear. https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/3ds-max-forum/gizmo-doesn-t-quot-follow-quot/td-p/6891950 Best Regards
