Fix Sketchup importing!
I am still on Max 2016 for production but as far as I know Sketchup Importer is still broken! There should be no reason to have to save down sketchup models to Version 8 in order for the Max importer to not crash!
Well, I have Max 2018 and 2019 and still the same problem, trying to import Sketchup files is a hit and miss.
Even after importing, there are several crashes related to the geometry imported.
I really do not understand why Autodesk have fixed this. Any other 3D software we use does not have problems importing Sketchup, directly or through COLLADA.
Working with Lumion and Sketchup is flawless, not problems whatsoever, Cinema 4D, MODO, Blender anything works, not 3D Max.
Hi everyone, the development team is ramping up some discussions and prototyping around this topic so I am changing it's status. I recommend that anyone wishing to provide input or help in the testing phase to please apply to our beta program.
Just wanted to update this topic as I am very happy to announce that 3ds Max 2020.2 update has a brand new Sketchup Importer that is 100% up to date and compatible with the latest and greatest Sketchup file format. Check it out and let us know what you think.
