Reference scaling

Reference scaling

Its 2018 already and 3Ds max hasn't made the reference scaling tool easier as it is in Autocad!!!

i am an architect and i teach 3ds max to young students some times and once they get the model scale wrong they do it all over again because the scaling too does NOT work with dimensions.

please consider this , it would help a lot of people to just select a model > scale > reference that to a dimension between two vertices and its done

thank you

I wish for this CAD-like approach to transformations, too! (I study architecture)

I'm used to Rhino, which works pretty much like AutoCAD:

All transform tools work the same way - you pick a start point, then an end point. Same for Move, Rotate, Scale.

No need to hold the mouse button inbetween. Super precise.

This should be IN ADDITION to the known click & hold to adjust, NOT INSTEAD, of course.

In Rhino you can do it that way, too, with it's 'Gumball' = the Axis icon.

By the way:

Cinema4D also has such a feature! It's called 'Axis Extension' and is invoked with CTRL-RMB-drag. For all transforms - move/rotate/scale!

It's a bit fumbly, however, owed to it's strange snapping concept. Could work better!
