Did you mean:

'file > save as' to .max file location

'file > save as' to .max file location

when opening a max file by double clicking it in windows explorer the File>Save As dialog defaults back to the 'user' scene folder.

3ds max should read the location of the opened file and open the save as dialog in the same directory. I bet we loose so much time over this.

We create short cuts to the jobs drive inside the scenes folder to speed things up but it's a bit of a pain.

This is a major annoyance. I would upvote this a hundred times if I could!

Ha. Glad to know I'm not alone.

It's very strange behaviour if you think about a typical team pipeline.

For me - no. If we use Project Folder - 3ds max must point to it. But will be good have option Use/Don't Use Project Folder.

Looks like this is fixed in the latest 2018 release?
