Explode elements into seperate objects

I posted this into the regular forum and was shocked to find that a simple function such as this can only be acheived with an outdated script found on the web.

I have always wondered why this doesn't exsist and only realised now what a limitation it is.

Seriously we need a simple function to be brought into 3ds to do this. As the software is evolving with plugins like Tyflow and vairous other scatter and particle systems, the need to seperate objects is needed more than ever.

There is actually a way to do this in edit mesh, under the tri, poly, or element mode there is an explode option. Crank it to 180 to explode continuous elements otherwise it will separate polys by that angle.

This is super old and destructive though, I think the best place to put this would be in edit poly and make it work in animate mode so it's non destructive, Otherwise it's own "Explode" modifier would be fine. Would want to be able to push the elements away from each other in the settings for it.

Bonus points if it works off volumes or something so it can work on meshes with different poly counts. A big use case would be texture backing for high and low poly meshes to avoid baking penetrating sections into the normals/AO. So would be cool to instance the same modifier on each to keep them in sync.

If I understand correctly, I use STR Tools for this function. Although AFAIK it only explodes to polygons, not down to lower subobject levels. https://www.scriptspot.com/3ds-max/scripts/strtools (Type a naming convention for the soon to be detached elements, Click Detach. To do the exact reverse, and create a singular entity with a relevant Multi-Sub material created, Right-click on sAttach). Is this the outdated plugin that you curently use? Regards,

This could be made possible by adding an option box to "Detach" (similar to "Attach) that would give the option to "Explode". Or make it part of the Detach pop-up.

I know your talking about elements to objects but it's possible in MCG to split the mesh to polygons in a non-destructive method I'm not expert in mcg but maybe this will help you for now, check the attached image for the mcg graph.MCG GraphMCG Graph

this would be such a nice feature!
