Is this a joke?

For the first time 3dsmax at least tries to become a modern app.Still a lot of work have to be done. And you want this ugly, unflexible win32/MFC dialogs back that are a nightmare to develop with? And what has QT5 as a GUI framework to do with this anyway?

I worked with Max over 13 years...and everything was fine until 2017...Why it's so problematic to add checkbox?

to aon.914858227 I'm not talking about window stretching
only about buttons

Hi @Anonymous

Adding a checkbox is trivial, however maintaining two or more different UI systems in parallel means that our support focus and effort will be diluted. In that context, I can't say that we would consider that option.

Would you be opposed if we steer this idea direction to more of a styling type of discussion, such as "enable alternative button (and other UI element) geometric styling"

Hi @brentscannell
The switch works great for Caddies.
Please never kill old style Caddy input. In new caddies you can't even TAB through input fields... 😕

Dear, brentscannell.

Great idea! That's exactly what we need.

Not that I feel that the underlying UI system needs changing, but I must say that older max versions had much more colour variation for toolbar buttons. It helps to easily tell buttons apart.

I understand that the vision is to create a solid, unified GUI. But I have been using 3ds max for decades, and with the latest versions it happens that I confuse buttons too often. That didn't happen in older versions where buttons were more diverse in look.

Perhaps put some small details with unique colours in the buttons that contain too much white, square-shaped symbols, such as the "toggle scene explorer", "toggle layer explorer", "show ribbon", "open track view", "schematic view" and the material editor button if set to the old version.

All of these buttons are quite similar in look, white and square shaped. Put some unique colours on them would make a small but useful improvement to this section of the GUI.

Completely disagree with most here. A unified GUI makes me more productive. It looks a lot cleaner and helps me concentrate more. The same reason my work desk is minimalist and tidy. Smiley Wink
