Drag objects from MAX to MAX

Drag objects from MAX to MAX

I want to be able to drag objects from one Max instance to another Max instance,
it should be possible to grab an object from the scene explorer and drag it,
drop it into another instance running of 3DS Max and automatically merge that object into the scene...

like when we drag a file into Max window from the windows explorer,
but instead from windows explorer it should be an object inside another Max...

There is a script for that, 3rd party. Copy paste script from scriptspot.org

or-   make MAX multi-document?

I enjoyed that feature in Cinema4D.   NATIVE copy/paste between open documents was easy and worked flawlessly.

To be frank, multiple instanced copies of 3DS Max being open is Autodesk's lazy inability to refine their software to be efficient and behave as expected.

Instead, we have to do things not the way they should be done but because it's the ONLY way to get the task done....

As Wumpux says, the solution is to make Max multi-document, for example by having tabs for each file opened in ONE copy of 3DS Max (just like nearly every program under the sun, Photoshop being a prime example).

Then, copy / paste, drag and drop would be a cinch.

Well not every program under the sun does that.

*Can't:*
Painter
3dsmax
Maya
Modo

Photoshop is a different program and should not be compared to Max, Maya
etc.
I posted a link to a copy paste script that will help.

Which part of 'like nearly' didn't you understand ?

As an alternative suggestion to drag and drop, being able to copy and paste (ctrl+v, ctrl+p) an object from one instance of Max to another would be a welcome feature. Maya can do this.

As I said above there is a 3rd party script for this, would be nice though to have it integrated.

I like this idea, and I'll vote for it, but it is quite a feat that's being asked here...

Not really, as Ive said several times there is a script I use from one max
opened to another.

Integrated I mean, not via means of 3rd part script. I haven't seen a program where you can drag a physical mesh from one instance of the window to another instanced window. Not saying it doesn't exist, it just sounds like quite a feat to pull off. (Copy and pasting a mesh is a different story, but that's not what we're talking about here.)

I created this script for this purpose a few months ago:

Here's a demo video:
