Has anyone ever run into this? It acts like max can’t keep a fixed position. When this occurs I have to get completely out of max and restart. Now a restart don't even work on this one.

I have even grouped everything and moved it to both view and world 0,0,0

Please see my attached video capture. Note that each time my geometry disappears is when I left click in space. If i do not change the viewports rotation it don't do it. Very annoying!

Kind of hard to explain.

Thanks in advance!

anyone? Did I not enplane it well enough? This is very frustrating.  I am running 2017. I installed patch 1 and 3 but not sure if it did it because when i go to  "About 3ds max" it does not reference any revisions. https://gyazo.com/367140afb24dbfb709caf104e9bcee5c

So basiclly i allways run into this problem with weird files or models.

Im pretty sure it can be fixed by changing the pivots to being in the center of th object...

Sometimes it is caused by having small tiny models or pices of models otherwhere in your group...

Hope this can help you on the way! 🙂

Thank you very much for your input Chri688m however i have several parts and they all have pivots that are pertinent to the design and cannot really be moved.

Shouldn't help about  2017 show what service pac is installed?

Hello @Anonymous,

There are a few things that can cause this problem.

1) Improper system units for the scene at hand.  This is the big one.

2) If your object is very far from world center, that can also cause the problem.

3) Try disabling the viewcube, it does have an issue logged where this might happen once in a while.

4) Weirdly, uninstalling GeForce experience can also help.

Do any of those describe your scene?  How far away from the origin is your scene?  System units?

Best Regards,

I accidentally accepted this as a solution oops.

Currently it is not doing it. What I did that stopped it was. I let it zoom and pan to it will then i placed a sphere in the center of my view port by eye. I then zoomed out and in to my assembly. and it quit doing that. I even zoomed back out and deleted the sphere and it is still ok at the moment.

ok answers to your questions.

I placed a 33" sphere at view 0,0,0  here is where it appears in relation to my assembly https://gyazo.com/1ea03328512498f9b0b2a4bd91aa4d2f

units   https://gyazo.com/4178c8e8e9ae17dfe548a6094d6b9b87

I disabled the viewcube

so it is not currently giving me the problem. Plus please note that i have a support case going currently with Dominic.

I will leave this as accepted. Hopefully the problem will not return. very anoying.

Thanks Alfred! Also let me know if anything looks out of wack here.

No problem @Anonymous, I unmarked the solution.   Best to unmark is so someone else doesn't get frustrated if it doesn't work for them.  I accidentally hit it once and while too when my browser lags.

I wonder if I could get a look at the scene file.  I suppose if there were stray verts on the model way out in the distance it could also cause this issue, hard to say without checking the file.  I think your folder is still up if you want to upload to it, I'd be happy to look into it too. @dominique.bouthillette is amazing, she'll have some ideas too of course.

you're right Alfred Dominique Rocks!

I just nailed the problem thanks to one of her suggestions!

Turning off the View cube corrects it! Must be a bug. I Kind of like the viewcube but i can get along with out it via hot keys

This is awesome. That has been a pain in my side for a long long time.

Kudos Dominique!

Thanks Alfred for getting back on this!
