Unable to create a rectangle!?

I keep trying to make a rectangle in Create > Shapes > Rectangle, but it only ever gives me this. What do I do?

Hello @Anonymous and welcome to the community,

Weird!  I have a couple questions for you. 

1) If you create the rectangle in the Side, Front, or Top view, does the same thing happen?

2) Does it help if you try a different display driver before launching 3ds max?  (Maybe a graphics card issue.)

3) Have you installed all the updates for whichever version of Max you are using?  (done at manage.autodesk.com or through the desktop app.)  

4) Does your system meet the system requirements?
