I have still this lags and low fps in viewports, but also a strange behavior.

if there is nothing selected I have about 22 fps, BUT if I go to sub-object mode I have about 115 fps.

seen here: http://c2n.me/3FXM1gH

I am still on max 2016 with all SP. graphic card is a GTX 1080 and win10 pro.

have anyone else similar problems?

thanks and a happy new year!

best regards

manuel

Hello @themaxxer,

Can you please try DX9 mode for me by choosing a different display driver in 3ds Max?  Make sure you restart Max after changing it.  Thank you for trying that.

hello alfred

thanks for reply.

with DX9 it's inverted... 🙂 http://c2n.me/3FYpp01

now I have about 165 fps and in sub-object mode 45 fps...

but I try it with DX9 now and tell you later if it's stable like this.

do I have any disadvantages with DX9?

thanks and best regards

Hello @themaxxer,

The main difference is support for DX11 shaders for game development.  There are some minor viewport differences but overall you should choose the one that works best for you.  Keep in mind those cards are gaming cards first and development cards second, so they are optimized for games and not 3D applications.  That being said, I use a gaming card at home for Max as well.
