Is there anything that all of your devices share that might be leading to the issue? Because of the complexity of Max, various machine configurations can affect its performance. I use it on two machines, one desktop and one laptop. And the laptop is a very generic one. While the desktop outperforms the latptop, even the laptop can withstand a half million poly file with minimal lag. If a dozen cubes brought Max to it's knees, there would be a lot of discussion here about it. I had a 28million poly file open today, all meshes, not proxys or instances, and I had little if no lag. So Max is capable of that kind of throughput in the 2024 version.
So, there is likely something on your machines that is contributing to the lag. The trick is to figure out what it is. You have a strong processor so it is odd that you are experience a lag with a very light file.
Can you post a few more details? Was there a time when Max didn't have this lag? If not, then maybe it's an install problem. If so, then something changed to induce the lag. Hopefully with a bit more info and testing we can figure out what is causing the problem.
Can you post the file you were showing in the video? I'd like to open it and see how it performs.
