I want to grab an object and put it on a rotating disc. The object should then rotate with the disc. How can I link the item to the disc when I drop it? What settings do I need to enter in unit flow?
Thanks for the help
Werner

Hi,

1- choose the Select and Link too

link.PNGl

2- Now click on the object you want to link, don't release the mouse button,

Drag until you're on the disk and release. Now when you move, rotate or scale

The disk the object will follow.

Hi @adjust1965

Thanks for bringing your question to the forums, it looks like you are visiting as a new member to the 3DS Max forum. I want to extend a warm welcome to the Autodesk Community!

I haven't gotten a chance to learn much about 3DS Max interactive, you may have better luck posting in the Max Interactive forums here. I'm also wondering if @gustavo_bergoya1 or @__ben__ have any suggestions!

Hi @adjust1965

I wanted to mention, if you are unable to find a solution within Max interactive, you can try baking out the animations inside 3DS Max and importing the two objects into the engine.

Baking animations:

  • Select the object
  • n Command Panel Motion > Trajectories

Sample range

  • Start frame
  • End frame
  • Samples (This is the 'tricky' one, Sample is amount of keys for time start to time end) For 1 key per frame, set sample to the frame count)
  • for instance, 0 to 100, sample should be 101 (including frame 0)

Choose the Transforms you want to bake (Position, Rotation, Scale) default is Position and Rotation, then click 'Collapse' button. This was paraphrased from a forum post here.

I hope this helps!

Hello everybody,
I think it's great how I'm helped here! Leather does not work for me. Is probably synonymous because I have only been working with Interactiv for 2 weeks ...
Can you tell me which settings I have to make in the Unit Editor / Flow Editor and in the properties for the turntable and for the cube? The dice should also be placed on the turntable by pick and place. Sorry for my bad English.
Thank you very much in advance.
greetings from Germany

Hi,

Previously I had not done something like this exercise. I hope it will be helpful to start with this topic.

Adjust, I think if you are starting in 3ds Max Interactive, you should start with more basic exercises.

Hello Gustavo,

it works!!! Verry heppy!

it's very easy to have such a good workshop as you created it. Thank you for that, is really great.  The only problem is that I work with VR glasses. The BASIK Template does not work with it. I Need the Desktop VR Template.  This is not working whis yours global.physics_properties. And now?

Regards

Werner
