Some tools allow you to pick objects either from viewport or directly from the layer exploler. The quick align tool however gives me a .net exception (nullreferenceexception). I would be great if it was possible to select the align object from the layer exploler or if not possible, at least disable the reaction when howering over the UI.
Some tools are okay with the selection from both so I think it is possible.
