Hi all !

I imported this drawing from Autocad

Only the doors are blocks all others objects are individual...

When I select one object it seems to be grouped ! The only problem, I didn't make any group ???

Take a look at the printscreen, the group menu options are not available, I also tried to unlink the objects, without any result...

HELP PLEASE ! Thanks a lot !

Hi again !

If it can help solve my problem.

I just noticed that the objects that have this problem are those where there is like a double layer ?

Please take a look at my images attached...

Finally, I just realized that my problem is related to Autocad 3D SOLID objects only...

Hope this could help to find what is that !

Thanks in advance !

Me again LOL !

The only way i found to workaround my problem is to use "Entity" when importing the autocad file.

I was taught to use "Layers, Blocks as Node Hierarchy, Split by Material"

Is this a good method of importing by "Entity" ?

Thanks !

Hi,

You'll find attached a small script I made that will remove these Cad blocks.

Download the zipped file, extract it, now inside 3DS Max, go to the Utilities panel,

Press Maxscript, click the Run Script button, locate the extracted file and double click it,

Now, all Cad blocks should be removed.

Hi @ericdube,

Did the script uploaded here help?

In addition, can you try importing your files as Entity, or actually select everything in your scene, Group them, then explode the groups to break the hierarchy? (You could also select All and then hit the Unlink button in the top toolbar to break parenting relationships between the imported objects.)

Please let us know if this helps!

Hi guys !

Thanks for your help !

I'll keep the script nearby for future use.

As I mentioned above, I got solved the problem by changing the import method, using "entity" my problem solved !

Thanks again !
