MAX 2023 keeps prompting close spline

Hi,

I have some imported dwg splines and every time I go to sub and only move or rotate them (so not creating anything) I get a prompt "close spline" and like 4 times since I guess it's detecting 4 vertices close enough to close. Should I report this as a bug or something?

Thanks

Can you upload the spline in a file so it can be looked at?

Is it prompting to close when the two end vertices are snapped together?

What are they importing into Max as?

This is still a bug in 2024. If anyone envounters this, enabling the automatic welding and setting welding treshold to 0 works around this issue.

... and you should be able to set persistant default using this:

To be clear, this is a bug.
Even though "automatic welding" is unchecked, it will still attempt to. The benefit of turning it on is that one can put a treshold so small it will never weld, but the feature can not be turned off.

... and there isn't a 'spline' reference (like there is for Editable Poly) to keep the setting persistent in any of the INI files or through other methods. Ugh.

Nothing like a pop up dialogue box to keep things working smoothly.

I would recommend reporting it:

Max 2023, the issue is still there, it's incredible annoying to move or make flat a huge cad file, the prompt pops up for every one of the now...24957 vertices, and I dont want to turn off and on the welding threshold every time I use the spline tool, add 2 buttons Yes to all, No to All. Thats it

Can someone share a .max file or precise steps to reproduce this?

As a diagnositc, can you save your current ENU by renaming it and then relaunch Max to see if the issue persists?

Something like this but with 10.000 times more vertices, it's one multi spline, with lots of open vertices cause we don't care about them, but the prompt is killing me.

@PuChiNgBaLLz - thanks, but it would be much easier for us if you could just share a .max file for us to investigate.
