Max 2018.4 Delete Key doesn't Work

With 2018.4 now the delete key does not work properly. Make a bunch of objects start selecting by clicking on one and then hit delete key. continue selecting objects and pressing delete key.  sooner rather than later the delete key will not delete the selected object. going to menu>edit>delete will not delete the object. the only way to delete is to select by window (crossing or full), then you can delete. After doing that the delete key may become functional for a brief period until the problem starts again.

WTF? I have used Max since it first came out. Used 3DS Dos before that. It's been great for years. Lately with each new release or update, basic user functionality like this gets broken. Very frustrating. Something is seriously wrong with the way this is being "updated" and tested (or not).

I'm not making this up and it's not specific to my system. create 20 objects. start selecting them one at a time by clicking on them. delete one at a time. delete stops working. only will work if object is selected with window selection. insanely annoying and difficult to work with

there's another post about short key probs with 2018.4.  Some suggest maybe OS specific?  But prob adesk.  what OS?  and specific build numbers to see if anything common here.

I found this post since I have discovered since downloading and installing Max 2018.4 that the delete key intermittently works. I have been working on max 2015 which I found very stable and loved. I have moved to 2018 because I heard this version was pretty stable and decent and I wanted the option to go with interactive. However, there is a definite difference int he reliability with some keyboard key actions such as delete. If I select an object to delete and hit delete, no go. But if I shift viewport scene slightly, delete works. Anyone find some answers on this?

Hi Kevin Sorry to hear that you're having trouble with this. We had developed a scripted fix to patch 2018.4 installations and have resolved this with the 2019 release, you can find some more info on how to fix broken hotkeys in this article: https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/3ds-max/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/3ds-Ma... Can you give this a try and let me know if the problem is still happening for you?

Thank you Brent. I was unaware of this solution and will give it a try today. Other than this issue, 2018 seems to be going okay. We will not upgrade to 2019 for at least another 6 months to a year since we can't be slowed down waiting of patches and updates. I already lost production time dealing with this key issue and trying to figure out and find solutions. Although I love using max, there have been releases that were never fully stable and free of bugs so when we hit a release that is good, we tend to stay locked in with it for a bit of time until I read enough user reviews that assure me to take a try with an update.
