Materials dissapeared from slate material view

Hey. I am building a map for a game and i was arranging all my textures i will use , in multiple views in Slate mat editor. I renamed the views like "Grounds","Buildings","General","Fences" etc, to group the materials and to know where to find them when i need them in my scene. After saving and closing 3ds max, after reopening,only some materials remained but the rest just dissapeared. I forgot to save the layout file (mpl file for slate layout) but i don't think that would made any difference. Some of the materials which dissapeared were assigned in the scene.Mostly of them,weren't. So was a random dissapearing ๐Ÿ™‚
 Is not another way for me? I just want to create a materials library and when i build the 3d model, i want to search in the library and fiind the material and apply.I was trying like this with Slate but i dont know if it's working like this anymore.
I remember that some time ago i was doing exactly like that in Compact editor, i had all the materials there and when i had the 3d model,i searched through the materials and assign to it, but why is not working with slate ?

This will sound odd but have you tried to set it up two or three times? I say that because in Max 2025 I initially setup 3 views and put materials in them. I saved the file as 'Max Material Set_01.max' and then closed Max. I launched Max and then opened that file. Two of the Views were gone, disappeared, like you said.

Then I redid it again and saved it over the same file name. This time, all the Views were there as I expected. It might be a bug and doing it  second time and overwriting the original file might fix something.

So try it a few times and see if it sticks. Then I think you'll be ok. If not, it might be an actual bug as I was able to reproduce it one time. If so, then you need to report it to the correct place. That is here:

Accepted solution

Not long after I started using Slate, I'd noticed that files with multiple views would sometime lose some of them after reopening the file.  This was in older versions of Max.  I'm currently on Max 2023 and have NOT had any issues, and frequently create 7-8 views in my Slate Material Editor.  This only was a problem for me in older versions of 3ds Max.

Sorry, but I have no solutions or workarounds.

@raoul_emilian

Did you try what I suggested above? I repeated the process several time on the same file and then it finally stuck and worked. You might want to try that as it might really be a solution for you.
