make object more transparent in see through

is there a way to make an object more transparent when see through mode is toggled? it is difficult for me to see through the object and wanted to set the transparency to like 25 instead of 50

Apply a Standard Material, animate the Material's Opacity - you can then vary the opacity of the object by scrubbing the Time Slider. I don't know of a way to alter the opacity of See Through mode (Alt+X) though you can change its colour in the Customise User Interface dialog.

See-Through option is completely different than changing the opacity.  How do you make a plane transparent so that you can still see the plane to mold the working plane into the object on the pattern? Band-aide fixes are not fixes,  please update your response with a valid response to help.

Hello,

Just reviving this thread here. Whenever I've had to apply "blueprint" bitmaps to Planar objects to aid in modeling, I've tended to use the suggestions posted here -- apply a Standard (Legacy) material to the Planes, make it self-illuminated and adjust the opacity so I can see through it but still be able to discern the bitmap details for modeling. (Then for test renders, I usually turn off the Plane's render properties.)

Please let us know if this helps!
