How to Relink missing Displace Modifer Bitmaps

Hi when opening a scene I get Bitmap Manager Errors, informing me that the displacement bitmap is not in that file- this is fine, however, I cannot relink these missing paths, i've tried everything I can think of because there must be a way to show these missing bitmaps in a list, so I can send them to the right folder?

They do not show up on asset tracking, nor Colin Senner Relink Bitmaps, nor Bitmap/photometric Path editor in utilities. I've also tried Zorb- but as far as i can tell i cant relink in this.

Also adding the path to the project, only seems to work for the person that added it? so if a co-worker opens it all thos bitmaps are missing again.

Just feel like I'm missing something obvious. These Bitmaps are in the modifier panel of the geometry for the Displace modifier, and I can't relink 1 by 1 really as there are 100's that need to be redirected over 100's of scenes.

I also can't just put the missing bitmaps into the path it currently thinks its in, because old coworkers set up the jobs stupidly with maps of the same name (so for example, we would have clashing map names all called 'base', that were meant for 100's of different models )

Any help to stop me pulling my hair our would be apprieciated.

This is the error upon opening:

That's not the dialog box I am familiar with when there are missing bitmaps. What version of Max?

Either way, try this: Relink Bitmaps | ScriptSpot

Great script that is way easier to use than Max's relinking functions.

Hi it's max 2025.3, this error comes up upon opening scenes, and has been in most versions of max i've used.
Unfortunatly I have already tried relink bitmaps (everyones no.1 😉 ) doesn't show the maps nor does asset tracker. I figure it's because max collates displace modifier maps differently- but surely there must still be a way to see every used bitmap in the scene or the maps that are causing the errors.

Are you sure it is not shown in Asset Tracker? It does for me in a quick test, gets listed under Maps / Shaders

Maybe you need to refresh the Asset Tracking dialog after opening it?
