How to get Max Updates?

Neither Autodesk application manager nor Max 2018 itself ever knows when updates are available. The application manager says "all available updates are installed" even when this is not true and going to Help-check for updates within Max also says up to date, even when this is not true. Then it points me to the downloads page and I don't see any updates there either. I have to manually search for an update that I know exists through Google to find it.
Similar but different issue in ReCap which ALWAYS says "update available" then when I click it to go install the update there's nothing to install, or even after I install it, it still says "update available."

how do you know max has not installed them? when you double click on the max icon max will usually tell you what service pack you have installed

at the top of the of the screen max will show you what SP you have installed

plus another way is when you click on help about 3ds max it will give you the infomation your serial key the service pack you have installed and the liense key etc.

Let me clarify.

I have periodically checked the application manager and no matter what, it always says "available updates are installed" (attachment)

Within Max, I have also checked by going to Help, Autodesk Product Information, Check for Updates. This brings me to a webpage, on which no 2018 service packs are ever listed. (attachment)

Sometime last month it occurred to me that I couldn't remember 2018 ever installing any service packs so I checked Help, Autodesk Product Information, About 3DS Max and noticed I was still on the original version with no updates - however, I knew that service packs existed because some of the problems I was having referenced them in the solutions. So I manually searched using Google for the service pack and that's how I found them and installed them. Ok fine. That works.

But what I'm saying is - why is this broken? Is the application manager defunct? Why doesn't "check for updates" take me to the updates I need for that particular version of Max? Why aren't any 2018 service packs listed on the downloads page? Shouldn't they be the first thing there? And shouldn't I be alerted when updates are available? I talked this over with a coworker and he experienced the same thing. So what's up with that? I never had this problem in any previous version of Max, only 2018.

You could try forcing the application manager to check for updates by right-clicking on its tray icon and selecting "check now", that might make some updates show up...

Other then that, the best place to get your updates is from your management page.

Select "download" under the product version you have and then switch to the "updates & add-ons" tab
