Cursor jumps on screen wrap at transform spinners...

Hi,

Clicking on the transform type-in spinners (x,y,z) at the bottom of the screen, beside Isolate Selection and Lock Selection, and dragging down the screen with the mouse to change the values... the value will jump when the cursor wraps back up to the top of the screen. It should be a smooth transition when the cursor wraps around from bottom to top of the viewport, but it's not, and it's annoying.

It hasn't always happened, but only started a few weeks ago.

Has anyone experienced this happen? It happens to the two installations of 3DSMax 2016 here in the office.

Both running W10, and 3DSMax 2016 SP4.

Both have the same hardware specs as listed in my signature below.

@brentscannell

This has been fixed and verified working fine on win 10 and latest beta.

Works perfect on main monitor and slave monitor.
Good job 🙂

If it's solid, it will go into the next point release, as with any bug fixing and updates like normally.
Apply for beta access if you want to test, as adviced by Brent above.

you say it works perfect

that sounds like solid enough for what broken function we have right now

I really can't comment on future release schedules or potential content, but as I mentioned the fix for this is currently in the testing phase with our beta community (just processed your submission, by the way). Once we are satisfied that the fix has been well implemented, we tag it as "ready" and we start the process of seeing where it could potentially fit in a public product release.

ok i just beg you to make this urgent as its a very major fix

Thats not how it works.
They cant just compile new versions for public for every bug fix, there are 1000s of fixes and improvements pr year.
And everything has to go through quality check, some thing that does work, proves to not work right after some time, or some does, and get flagged as Brent mentioned.

But get on the beta and have a go at it if you want 🙂

You wouldn`t belief what it sometimes take to fix a bug that the enduser receives as 'small and easy to fix'.

Trust me on this. I`ve been there...

When is this going to happen ???

GUYS this is ridiculous i am in a Project for nearly two years now and was staying on 2018 because i got around that problem somehow. So i gave this a new try today with the actual 2020 Version.

like already described 1000 times here, throw out a Box try to move it with the bottom XYZ sliders and what a suprise the Unit jumps away when crossing the edge of the Screen. is this serious ??? ^^ what are you guys doing over there ???

Is this fixed within a service Pack now ??? Any Informations on that. this i frustrating ....

I don't want to jinx myself, but I thought I'd update everyone that this screen wrap jump doesn't seem to be happening anymore for me with the latest version of 2020 (and on the exact same machine it was happening with 2018). Not sure if this was an intentional fix, luck, or a fluke... but I'll take it.

It was intentional 😉

Try slowing down your mouse pointer when it goes from bottom to top. That usually helps here.

Thank you.

Thank you, I realized that my problem was different. I think I got the wrong topic. My cursor jumped to the bottom of the screen as soon as it flew over a spinner.
I corrected it by checking "Wrap Cursor Near Spinner" in the "preference settings".

I've solved this issue by playing around with how displays are "arranged" in Windows. My current layout that works is below:

I've not being experiencing this behavior recently with 2020 - 2022. Maybe because I only have one monitor (Sony 48" 3D telly, got one cheap on local adverts €230 quid). Working from home. But no more cursor wrap. Main work PC is on 2020 latest service pack. Home PC has 2022, no wrap. Home PC has GTX 760 461 nVidia Driver. Work PC has nVidia P5000. Latest drivers.

I resolve this issue by making my main display the monitor with 3ds max.
