change Lattice object?

Hi, I've recently been experimenting with the lattice modifier and was curious if there's a way to input a custom object over the default joint options (Tetra, octa, icosa). i.e. placing a teapot on each of the vertices that inherits the colour/texture of the plane.

Thanks,

Would there be an alternate method to achieve this i.e. creating it in particle viewer to achieve similar outcome?

Thanks very much for that @rendermaster , on a slightly different note do you think it would be possible to transfer this kind of mapping method to spotlights?

Screenshot (134).png

i.e. I essentially want to have a series of spotlights that change colour based on video, is there a way you can change their input colour based on mapping?  desired result below

Thanks again for your help

@rendermaster No it's not necessarily a single light projection of 1 image, rather each spotlight acting as a pixel on a low res screen.

Somehow the spotlight would change it's RGB value based on the pixel it's trying to represent.

The two most straightforward ways I would think to do this is either with a self illumination map, or just hand keyframe the lights color to change.

You may be able to get a similar effect by parented lights to turn on and off depending on different colored objects...
