I have confirmed with multiple other users that there is a malfunction with "Caddy Control" sliders in Max 2022.
In prior versions, you click and drag up / down to increase / decrease the value.
In 2022, the slider only works if you click down, then drag a little, then release and the movement after mouse-up increases / decrease the value, until it random stops working (see image) causing unpredictable values.
UI sliders outside of these "Caddy Control" pop-ups (such as in the ribbon or modifier panel) work normally and as expected. Only the "Caddy Controls" sliders are affected.
If I disable theses controls [Customize menu > Preferences > General > Enable Caddy Controls] I get a different kind of pop-up window with working sliders. So there is a work around.
My Setup:
Max 2022 (24.0.0.923) | OS: Win 10, GPU: RTX 3070ti (latest drivers)
I can't reproduce any anomaly. They all work perfectly. Does any other application exhibit any odd mouse behavior?
Have you tried a different mouse? But not likely a hardware issue though. Just thinking out loud. Maybe a mouse driver problem? Have you tried a Max ENU reset?

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Rob, thanks for the feedback. You are the first person I've run into who didn't have the issue, so it's interesting that it only happens on some computers. This is a fresh install and I did try different mouse and bypassing the USB hub, with no result.
It's also telling that only the sliders in the 'Caddy Control' are affected, and nowhere else in Max's UI.
Some theories why it might affect some users and not others...
- Monitor resolution and Windows DPI scaling (I'm 3840 x 2160 @ 150%)
- Mouse sensitivity settings (variable DPI mouse / windows cursor speed: 10)

Ok, thanks for the info. I'll keep an eye on it. FYI, I run my 30" monitors a 3840x2160 @150%. Anker Vertical Mouse, default settings. (default Windows mouse settings as I just plugged it and and use it).
Probably not related but something I've been doing for a few years is to run the following weekly. It seems like each week they catch something and fix it. They give me confidence my OS is healthy. You can Google to see what they are about.
1. Run Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth
2. Run SFC /Scannow

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Rob, thanks again for the high-quality tip. I've added the scans you mentioned to my Task Scheduler on a weekly interval as well. An immediate scan resulted in no issues discovered from either program (this is a new Windows install).
In addition to the 2 different wired mice, I've also tried the sliders with a BT wireless mouse and a with a Wacom tablet (old Intuos 3 PTZ). All result in the same buggy behavior from the UI.
Hi @jasonadorris ,
Thanks for your post, and this is a puzzle.
I would like to see if your hardware and drivers might give some clues here, so if you want to save the output from the DxDiag and System.nfo files and send it to me in a private message, we could take a look and see if something jumps out here. (Although you did say that you tried it with different peripherals.)
How to obtain a System Information (.nfo) file
I'll alert our developers to this thread and see if they've seen any reports of this. Thanks!
Sorry I couldn't help more, but those scans will help you in general as you add many more things to your new Windows install.
Looks like Jon Bell is on the case. He's awesome and has helped me solve a few head-scratchers in the past. I hope you get it resolved soon.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------I have the same issue on machine with 3070 and 3080 , no issue on gtx 610 card 🤔
CHANGE MOUSE POOLING RATE (FOR ME CHANGE 1000->500) FIXED THE ISSUE.
Thanks @fosa.architektura for sharing the solution and for letting us know the source of the problem, I'll document this with the other know issues with high polling mouse.
Just in case people find their way to this thread through a google search for this problem and can't find any solution:
Someone in the stack group on facebook posted this and it finally solved it for me:
The d3d11 variant did it for me:
It's as if I installed completely new software, everything is more responsive, but especially the caddy controls now work exactly as they should.
I hope this will help someone else!
